French bistro comfort meets Korean spice in a bowl with caramelized onions, chicken, and bubbling cheese.
# What You'll Need:
→ Noodles & Protein
01 - 2 packs instant ramen noodles, preferably Buldak or other spicy Korean brand
02 - 7 ounces boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
→ French Onion Base
03 - 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
04 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
05 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
06 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
07 - 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
08 - 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
09 - 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
10 - 1/4 cup dry white wine, optional
→ Broth & Seasonings
11 - 2 cups chicken broth
12 - 1 packet Buldak or spicy Korean ramen sauce
13 - 1 teaspoon soy sauce
→ Toppings
14 - 1/2 cup shredded Gruyère cheese, or mozzarella cheese
15 - 2 tablespoons chopped chives or green onions
16 - 1 small French baguette, thinly sliced and toasted
# How To Make It:
01 - Melt butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, until deeply caramelized, about 20 to 25 minutes. Sprinkle with sugar, salt, and black pepper to enhance caramelization.
02 - Add minced garlic to the onions and cook for 1 minute until aromatic. If desired, deglaze the pan with dry white wine, scraping up any browned bits.
03 - In a separate pan over medium-high heat, sear the sliced chicken breast until golden and cooked through, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
04 - Pour chicken broth and soy sauce into the caramelized onions. Bring to a simmer and add ramen noodles. Cook according to package instructions until just tender.
05 - Stir in the Buldak or spicy Korean ramen sauce, allowing the broth and noodles to combine and absorb the flavors.
06 - Return the cooked chicken to the pan, gently mixing to ensure even distribution throughout the noodles.
07 - Sprinkle shredded cheese over the hot noodles. Cover with a lid and allow the cheese to melt for 1 to 2 minutes, or broil briefly until the top is lightly browned.
08 - Ladle noodles into bowls and top with chopped chives or green onions. Serve immediately with toasted baguette slices on the side.
